But who exactly is Alexandru? Analytical, competitive, and always looking for the best move—whether on the chessboard or in a complex IT project. He played professional chess for eight years, and although he no longer plays actively, its principles and discipline remain fundamental to him. This mindset also extends to his free-time activities: whether he’s playing a football match, a tennis tournament, or an intense game of Catan, the desire to win makes everything more exciting.

If we were to imagine a movie scenario, Alexandru would be the one quickly analyzing the situation and proposing a well-structured plan. He has a natural talent for breaking down complex problems into smaller, more manageable parts, always with the clear goal of finding the most efficient solution, just like an experienced chess player who always sees a few steps ahead. In the team, he is the go-to person you can rely on to provide direction and clarity.
“I like to think ahead, analyze, and make strategic decisions. This approach also helps me professionally, where efficient solutions often come from a deep understanding of the problem.”, Alexandru explains.
The journey to Connections – A challenging start and a lesson about adaptability
Alexandru’s story at Connections began in November 2019, and his debut was unconventional: he spent his first month working in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. A challenging start, but also a valuable lesson in collaboration and adaptability, where every move counts.
“Connections helped me with everything regarding this temporary relocation—setting up my self-employed status, flights, accommodation, and adapting to a completely different environment. It was a challenge, but also an experience that showed me the professionalism and quality of the people in the team.”, Alexandru recalls.
This openness to change has shaped his unique vision of digitalization. To him, digitalization is like an outstanding teenager, eager to learn and constantly improve, with limitless potential. Still at the beginning of its journey, but capable of changing entire industries.

Technology – an essential partner in his daily life
“My wife once asked me what I need every day to be happy. I thought for a moment and replied: The internet.”, shares Alexandru truthfully. For a technology enthusiast, the answer might seem obvious, but it shows just how important technology has become in our lives.

Artificial Intelligence: the hottest topic of the moment
Alexandru is fascinated by the direction in which Agentic AI is heading – autonomous systems that could optimize human life and work, but which also raise challenges related to control and ethics.
“The balance between autonomy and supervision is essential. How we manage this transition will define AI’s impact on society.”, notes Alexandru.
At the same time, he raises the issue of ethics in AI, and if there were to be a referendum in the IT industry, he knows exactly which question would no longer be avoidable: “Do we need a set of rules for AI ethics and content generated by artificial intelligence?“

“The first few months can be challenging, but every problem you solve helps you grow. If you ever feel like you’re not prepared enough or don’t deserve the position you’re in, remember that you got there because of your hard work. No one knows everything from the start, and progress comes step by step.”
